It was Friday the 13th and the Circle of Friends were gathered for their usual pajama party. As they sat around the table for four working on the night's project the noise in the room sounded like crazy loons!

Eventually the teacher got the group under control and began her lesson on a variation of the 9 Patch block. Aunt Dinah informed everyone that she had started her own variation, the Ohio Star, just last week for her grandson, who lives in Ohio, and who was going to do some archeaological work on the ruins of Jericho.  That, of course got Mo. star talking about the log cabin which was her favorite block because it was so versatile. Aunt Dinah began to disagree when suddenly there was lightning in the kitchen - which really gave everyone blurred vision.

As their eyes readjusted to the light and shadows the women's eyes began to criss cross as if they were looking through a kaleidoscope. Sunbonnet Sue got up and looked out the attic windows and thought her eyes were playing a card trick on her because she saw what looked like a giant snowball hurling straight at the school house they were in.

"Children, take wing!" she cried.

"Heavenly stars!" gasped the group's leader as she looked around at her best friends. "What in the world was that?"

Susannah looked around her kitchen and saw her cups and saucers, broken dishes and all of her beautiful dresden plates laying shattered on the floor. "I've no idea", she sobbed. "But I think I have a broken heart!"

Just then Brother Bear & Sister Sun ran through the front door yelling loudly and talking over each other. "There was a Lone Eagle Airplane flying over Salt Lake City!" "It ran into a spider web and began to spinout!"

As the kids continued trying to explain what they saw, the lights came back on and the room became a golden glow as another star in the night sky caused the room to light up like it was July fourth.

The quilters slowly started picking themselves off the new floor and, feeling like they were on a see saw, shook themselves off as they tried to take in all that had just happened.

Knowing that nothing was going to get the group to focus on what she had planned to teach, the leader sighed and said, "Ladies, at the end of the day there is still the three martini star. Who's coming with me?"
